BusyCal 2 App Reviews

Very Pleased

Been using BusyCal for a year now. Way better than the headaches I had with Google Calendar for sync with iPad, iPhone, iMac, Macbook Air…etc.

Great app-beats iCal

Really like BusyCal. Syncs much better between Google and other Apple products than other calendars I have used. Two things I would like to see to make it EXACTLY to my liking (aesthetics more than function) would be the option to change the colour of a single event so it is different from the calendar default colour and a separate choice/ size of font for the banners compared to the the calendar events font/ size. Thanks - this is what I was looking for - fxn and beauty.

Has essential features not incuded in Apple (UPDATED)

Im highly organized and like to put everything in my calendar (appointments, reminders, to-do, etc). I also like to procrastinate. Ignoring (my alarms for AS LONG AS I WANT TO, not how long Apple thinks I should is important to me. The way BusyCal handles alarms is excellent and the app gives me - the user - control over almost everything. Gaining control is priceless. UPDATE Ive been using BusyCal 2 for several months now, and my love of the product continues to grow with the updates. Its everything OS Xs Calendar isnt, and thats good news for anyone who wants to be in control of what an app does and how it behaves. Very happy with this purchase.

A better way to Calendar

My needs are simple - I sync calendar with iCioud between my Mac and iPhone. While Apples Calendar does this fine, I appreciate the enhancements of BusyCal. I prefer its (much more flexible!) notification window over Apple Calendars limited implementation through Notification Center (particularly the "Snooze" function). Custom fonts, pics and weather forecasts right in the calendar are welcome touches. Inputting event dates and times feels smoother than Apple Calendar. Developer keeps on top of things - little glitches in 2.5 (event entry and custom color-related) were fixed in 2.5.1 before I even got around to bringing them to their attention. Kudos. A minor criticism (for those minding their batteries): BusyCal caused my MacBook Pro to switch from integrated video to the more power-hungry discrete video when it did its animated transition from one month to another. UPDATE: My minor quibble was fixed by I unchecking the "Animate transitions" option under BusyCal > Preferences... > Appearance tab.

Great!

Great app. I moved from a hand written organizer to this and I havent looked back. Easy to use, great for beginners and worth the price. I wish I had more stars to give.

The Best Supporting iCloud, Exchange, Google etc

Busycal 2.5 is simply the best calendar to use on the Mac. It has a nice clean interface. It is very easy to work with yet at the same time powerful. Not only does it provide support for of course Apple calendaring but it supports Google calendars, Office 365 and Exchange. This is an extremely versatile program that at first blush might not seem like much more than Apples calendars but when you look closer it is. Rich in functionality Im sure it will meet both your minimum and maximum requirements for a calendar. With its add on menu bar app for quick calendar view and entry you also have a Fantastical like calendar.

Top notch customer service. Excellent communication.

The minor hiccups I have experienced have been met with prompt replies, good explanations and timely fixes. Keep it up.

Good Value

Good value for the money…since I picked up this application quite a while ago, the developer hasn’t taken a hit-and-run approach like others have. The software has been well supported with maintenance upgrades and additional features. It sports a good feature set, integrates well with iCloud [and iCal] and is very stable. the interface is sometimes a little less than intuitive, but a little poking around usually gets me where I want to go. I recommend it as an iCal alternative.

Great Calendar App!

BusyCal 2 syncs seamlessly with iCloud with Month, Week, Day, Year or List views. Integrates with To Dos that I create in BusyToDo on my iPhone using Siri (allows different priorities). I like being able to view and edit event details directly in the Info panel. It works well with Fantastical or the new BusyCal menu (which works similar to Fantastical). But my all-time favourite features are the Smart Filters for displaying a set of calendars, a custom view, or events that match a certain criteria and that allows calendars to be arranged into groups and allow instant show/hide with a single click. Cant go back to iCal.

Best since Now Up-To-Date

I’ve used Up-To-Date for years, and when I read that the original developers of UTD created BusyCal, I switched (since UTD is no longer made). Both programs are much better than Calendar/Reminders. I just wish a couple things were options: I’d like the ability to see item notes in the regular calendar view (at least week and day views). Also, dragging to-do’s from the ‘To-Do’s by Priority’ list on the right to another day turns them into banner events for some reason. Other than that, it’s a great program, and it updates to the cloud and my ipad right away. (I just wish the BusyCal IOS version had reminders integrated just as the mac version does!)

Mr

Have not used BusyCal for very long, but so far it is the best calendar app. I have found. A little reluctance to purchase at it’s costly price compared to many others, but took the plunge and appreciated the many features, which made the price justified. The custom support is excellent. If you don’t find an answer to a problem in the FAQ’s, etc, just send an email, and you will find you get an immediate response and assistance. I would also suggest reading through the manual and finding out all the great features. My all time favourite calendar app was on the extinct Palm Z22, but I find that BusyCal gives me similar functions and much more, than the Z22 provided. I like the coloured events, especially distinction between All Day events and Times Events. Also syncs very well with many calendar apps on my iPad Air.

Great Features!

I was skeptical about spending the money. I thought Google Calendar was good enough. But BusyCal is really amazing and has a lot of little details that other calendars like Google or iCal completely miss. For example, you can SHIFT the view of your calendar by a single day or week, (with most calendars you have to jump by an entire week or month at a time) which means you dont have to see only a single month at a time. When you are on the last 2 days of a month, you can still see 3-4 weeks ahead if you need to. In Year view, in December, you can still take a peek at the next 4 months without having to flip back and forth between years. I absolutely love this feature. To do items can be set to only be visible when you are viewing a date-range that includes them. This is great for focusing. But your Todos dont get lost because if you dont do them, they get pushed forward a day. Dragging and dropping multiple elements around is completely easy. This is tremdously useful! I didnt realize most other calendars cant even do this. BusyCal lets you view your days and weeks exactly as you like (want to see 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 weeks in Month view? It is your choice) and it really lets you see the big picture of your schedule.

BusyCal 2

Great calendar app, that does everything that it says, with little problem setting it up.

Love it

Could’nt do without it, but… there is room for improvement,

Great program, fast customer support

I really didn’t want to spend the money after upgrading to Mavericks, but after using the default Calendar application I caved. I’m glad I did. There are tons of amazing features, but honestly the kicker for me is that OS X Calendar won’t let me scroll through multiple daily events in month view — you have to switch to week or day, which breaks my workflow. It’s a little thing, but five minutes of using Calendar and I thought I was going to break something. It’s a lot of money, but it’s fast, has a very easy learning curve, and you can customize it in ways you didn’t know you needed but won’t be able to live without. I had an (admittedly dumb) issue after upgrading, emailed support and got a response very quickly which solved my problem. Thanks guys!

Busy Cal

I had always used iCal and found it totally satisfactory in keeping track of my commitments and syncing to all my other devices. The only thing that it really lacked was the inclusion of graphics for special days and events. Since I regularly print hard copies as well as web accessible calendars I couldn’t be happier with this app. The ability to make numerous calendars “weird” repeating events and graphics, then print readable copies has sold it for me. Thanks for the app.

Great calendar, fully compatible, lots of extra features that are well worth the money

My calendar is where I keep all my plans, so it absolutely has to be reliable. BusyCal has never failed me, and it integrates well with everything Ive tried to combine it with. Lots of great additional features. The one I was after initially was the ability to select how many weeks are displayed at once, and to rotate weeks without being a slave to month boundaries. Still baffled that this isnt widely available! But Busycal is great, allowing one to view (or print!) anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks in a single continuous grid (NOT broken apart into separate month squares). THANK YOU! I also love being able to color code entries by calendar, and the auto-inclusion of weather forecasts right in the calendar, so its easy to match up plans with predicted conditions and find (for instance) the warm day when I dont have an evening commitment. Options for various rules for recurring events are also better than iCal.

Still the best

Wasn’t crazy about iTunes support for direct connection being lost when I upgraded to Mavericks - but Busycal 2.5 still the best calendar app around, by far. The iCloud setup was straightforward, and while I don’t like being forced to go to iCloud, there’s no doubt the transition is seamless, and the real-time updating between my mobile, iMac & Macbook (and my wife’s devices, being invited in) works seamlessly. Boo on fewer choices by Apple, but bravo to Busycal - still the best choice around by far!

Best calendar for Mac

I have tried a lot of Calendar for Mac and this is by far the best one, works really smooth, never have a problem syncing canelndar to Outlook or to Gmail, its just great =) I do hope they make an E-mail application as well =)

Best connectivity to MS Active Directory of any Calendar app

I purchased this application as a replacement for the Outlook Calendar. This app has full connectivity through to Active Directory including room-booking, AD contacts sync and others. I can do real time search/filtering in week or monthly view and even forward events via Mac Mail. I love this app and have recommended it to other team members struggling with Outlook. Fantastic app - you will not be disappointed!
