Great calendar app for Google Calendar
I always keep my employer’s data outside of my personal data (in the native apps). This calendar app very effectively integrates with Google Calendar and Gmail, and gets the job done.
Pros:
- The reminders system works extremely well, popping up alerts or using the OS X notification cetenter. I love that they give you the choice between those two.
- The interface is clean and simple. I don’t need wallpaper or other visual frills, and they often detract from what I need to do day-to-day. This is very crisp and clean looking
- Day, Week, Month, and other layouts for easy navigation of upcoming appointments
- Weather and other “nice-to-have” features that stay out of the way when you don’t need them
- Proper integration to Gmail. Incoming appointments show up in the app, and acceptance/rejection/invitation emails go out when you take action on the invite
- Handles .ics files (from Outlook or most other calendar platforms) with no issues
Cons:
- When multiple user calendars are identified in the software, you will get some notifications for other calendars that are not “checked” and not visible at the time
- HTML formatting and links are not preserved in calendar event notes, which makes opening a Webex or other web link a pain
Overall, very well recommended if you use Google Calendar and want to keep it outside of the native applications like I do.
